Working At The Sanctum

The Sanctum is always seeking friendly and talented people to help enhance our community and grow our offerings.  The scope and shape of the current openings are dependent upon the skills and experiences of applicants.  We always accept applications for a variety of shifts, but this fall we will need a part-time daytime, weekday minion.

Working at The Sanctum may seem like it is all fun and games. Most of the time it is, but there’s a considerable amount of hard work that you should know about before you apply.

JOB DESCRIPTION

Most importantly, an employee of The Sanctum needs to be able to provide exceptional and efficient customer services to patrons throughout the store. Our customers rely on us for information about all aspects of the tabletop gaming industry’s popular titles and product lines. Other abilities required of a potential employee include the ability to work in a fast-paced environment, patience with every type of customer, and operating a point of sale system.

Working at The Sanctum requires several mental and physical requirements. Some job requirements include basic computer and mathematical skills, organizational and alphabetizing skills, and the ability to lift and handle merchandise of varying weights up to 50 lbs.  We also spend a lot of time cleaning to make sure the store is neat and tidy. Several hours of your shift could be spent dusting, mopping, cleaning bathrooms, polishing glass, etc.  It’s not what people first think of when working at a game store, but having a dirty, messy store is not an option.

The Sanctum will consider entry-level job applicants; however, workers with past retail experience are preferred. A lack of history in sales and retail can be mitigated by considerable knowledge and enthusiasm about tabletop gaming.

We will contact you for an initial screening interview for our “bench”. The bench is a pool of qualified individuals whom we will contact in the future for employment opportunities as they open up. For this reason, please be specific with your gaming focus in your cover letter or video and your qualifications and skills on your résumé (see below). We will look to the bench first for applicants to fill seasonal positions or to run certain events.  This allows us and you to see if The Sanctum is a good fit.  As regular shifts open up, we will look to those who have had a positive past employment experience at The Sanctum first to fill those positions.

To apply, please email the following documents and links to info@thesanctum.games:

  1. Send us a cover letter or 1-minute video which sells us on your favorite game.

  2. Send us a résumé with relevant experience.

When your full application is received, you will receive an email confirmation with our next steps.  We will only communicate to applicants by email, please do not call the store to follow up on an application.  If you do not receive an email within 2 business days of submitting your full application (both items above), check your spam folder.  If you still haven’t received a confirmation, please email info@thesanctum.games with a follow up.

We look forward to hearing from you!
