Pricing Policies
Asking people to spend their hard earned money on our products is not something we take lightly. We know gamers don’t either, as it’s often one of the first things that’s asked when people discover we run a friendly local game store. In this modern age, people have more choices than ever for where to purchase their products and we think you deserve some insight and explanation on how our products' prices are determined. We believe our practices are fair and we hope you agree.
The majority of the companies that make the products sold at The Sanctum have what’s called an MSRP or Manufacturer’s Suggested Retail Price. This is the price they believe their product is worth while allowing everyone from the designers, manufacturers, publishers, distributors, and retailers to exist. Beyond that, many of our products require that we obey a Minimum Advertised Price, or MAP, that sets the lowest price we are allowed to sell an item online or post in advertisements. It can get a trifle tricky.
MSRP is the baseline that we use when we price our games. That means we don’t price match or haggle (no matter how high you roll on your persuasion check), but you also won’t find us profiteering or gouging on rare or limited stock items like some kind of auction. The price is the price.
That said, on occasion, we may have to restrict the quantities we permit a customer to buy to a limited number at a time. For example, imagine a certain popular card game becomes extremely difficult to find and allowing someone to grab all our copies at once and resell them on an auction site at thrice the price would be a disservice to our game playing community. The price is the price.
We also don’t hide from our prices. The Sanctum shelves are designed and arranged to display our games with the front of the box facing forward, and for the vast majority of our games, the price tag is placed prominently on the front of the box. It’s annoying when you grab a box and have to rotate it around until you find a place where the price sticker is hidden. With us, the only reason to turn the game over is if you want to read the back of the box.
Everyone likes a deal and we offer several intriguing options that you can read about on other pages including our used games section, a loyalty/rewards program(coming soon), and a variety of gaming events and promotions. As we are a new endeavor, these offerings may fluctuate on occasion, but the intent remains to offer options and value to our community.
Simply, our mission is to provide our community with a friendly, honest, and inviting emporium of wonder filled with quality, curated gaming curiosities and baubles to support and expand your hobby needs and desires. We recognize that we may not always be the least expensive option, but value and experience can transcend price tags and we are always humbled when someone considers being part of The Sanctum’s community.
Community Heroes Discount Program
From the beginning, the intent of The Sanctum has been to form a community hub. We want to do more than sell games. Our intention is to be a place to gather, play, and build ties with each other through the joy of gaming.
With that in mind, we’re we offer a Community Heroes Discount Program.
You work hard to serve this community we love, and we want to give you something back. Firefighters, Police Officers, EMTs, Paramedics, Members of the Military on Active Duty, Military Veterans, and K-12 Faculty (both public and private) will now receive a 10% discount off of their entire purchase with proof of service. It’s just one of the small ways we hope to give back to the community that supports us.
A Few Necessary Caveats:
We at The Sanctum are well aware that these are not the only roles in which people serve their community. Our delineation of these particular individuals to receive the discount and not others is, we understand, perhaps imperfect. But, put frankly, we have to use some criteria and these are what we've decided upon.
The Community Heroes Discount Program is not compatible with any other discounts, such as our loyalty points program. It also may not be used on items that are ineligible for discounts (including but not necessarily limited to consignment items, gift cards, and rentals).
Yearly proof of service is required and will be noted on your customer loyalty account for future use.
Terms of the Community Heroes Program may be adjusted according to the judgement of The Sanctum management at any time.
